Nobody Uknow's Review of SureFire M640DF Scout Light Pro Dual Fuel LED Weapon Light

The M640DF Dual Fuel Scout Light Pro 1500 Lumen LED Weapon Light is worth the money. The new mounts in both picatinny and m-lok allow you to position the body of the light at variable distances from the weapon. That's handy if you need to get it further out to clear a suppressor, or you need to get it in tight to the weapon to reduce snag factor or keep the tailcap within easy reach. The switch is reliable. The "off" vs. momentary on vs. continuous on is easy to manipulate, and the recessed button / fenced switch design prevents accidental discharge of light. The light is bright and well directed with a wide flood area and a brighter spotlight in the center of the beam. The 18650 Li-ion battery that comes with the light has a USB plug and short little cable that works with any USB power source for recharging, and the battery itself has smart charging capability to prevent overcharging and optimize how fast it recharges. There is no need for a special battery charger, but you could use one if you want to. If you want to run the light dimmer, it also takes CR123A 3v batteries but needs 2 of them. I like the way it works, and the peace of mind that comes with quality gear that I can rely on when it's needed. It's also a nice size to use as a pocket flashlight in a pinch.
Pros:
  • Brightness
  • reliability
  • Throw
  • Quality of light
  • Shelf life of a charge on the 18650 battery
Cons:
  • More costly than other brands
  • Accessory switch assemblies are extra and costly
Best Used for:
  • Long gun or SBR weapon light
